On 10th September 2016, in liaison with the St. Paul’s Bay Local Council, the team at Gold Lion Holding cleaned up the Bugibba beach strip near the main square as well as an empty plot in Triq il- Port Ruman in Qawra. This beach was selected as it is a buzzing hot spot for both tourists and local residents during the summer months, and we felt we could make a notable difference here. The plot in Qawra was sadly covered with a significant amount of rubbish and was in a desperate need of being cleared up.
With around fifty volunteers lending a helping hand, we were able to collect over fifty bags of rubbish. From 10:00 am to 1: 00 pm, participants were divided into two groups and placed at two locations that required cleaning. One group ventured towards the plot in the borders of Bugibba/ Qawra and laboured to purify it from debris and waste. The second group worked to sanitise the strip of beach near Bugibba Square.
We would like to thank the team of Works and Infrastructure Department, Cleaning Services for their support and assistance during the event. Water donated by Trolees Supermarket kept our volunteers hydrated and we are grateful for their help with this. A special thanks also goes to the team at Propertymarket.com.mt and the Training Room for joining this project and making a difference together.
One of our core values at Gold Lion Holding is to give back to society as we take our social responsibility extremely seriously. We believe in promoting a cleaner, healthier environment as well.
